Hype is an extraordinary thing. Not enough, and ignorance ensues; too much and people don't want to believe it. However, in the case of Feist, the perfect balance seems to have been struck. Adored by the Radio 2 brigade and scenesters alike, it seems worldwide superstardom is the only thing left.
Providing the perfect accompaniment to the summer we should have had, '1,2,3,4' bounces along at a strolling pace, with country bumpkin style banjo, tooting horns and olde worlde piano. Underneath nestles a voice that would still prove hauntingly spellbinding even if singing you the day's stock market fluctuations.
Although by no means groundbreaking or revolutionary, you really just don't care as long as that voice keeps singing and you can sway your head side to side in a rhythmic catatonia. As beautiful a track as you could ever wish to expose your ears to.
