'10,000 Nights' is Alphabeat's third single, and the fluffiest, most sugary offering yet. While it may come close to sounding like a choice cut from High School Musical (not that I'd know of course...), its get-up-and-dance sensibilities spread quicker than SARS. It may be the shared vocals and the nice balance of boy and girl, or even the giddy piano and hyper guitar, but regardless of the cause the effect is a Cheshire cat grin slapped right across your face.
It may be packaged as cool and quirky indie-pop but don't let that fool you - '10,000 Nights' carries all the guilty pleasure of a post-Red Bull Gina G living room dance-off. To close on a line potentially as cheesy as the song itself, Alphabeat have a great knack of making the listener forget about their problems for a few minutes, and isn't that what music is all about?
